A FIRE DESTROYED THIS HOME early Sunday (2/1) at 15309 Hill Drive (near Mahoney Road) during the height of the snow event. Fire units from Louisville, Springfield, Weeping Water, Manley and Plattsmouth fought the blaze. The call came in around 3am. Louisville Fire Chief Jason McClun said the house was fully involved in flames when he arrived. The weather conditions and the hilly terrain had firefighters laying out about 1500 feet of hose to get to the structure. The LVFD 4-wheel drives could not even make it up the hill. "We did the best we could" but the house could not be saved, said the chief. The lone occupant got out safely. The weather played a part in the apparent cause too. The evidence at the scene indicates a snow-covered tree downed a power line that was connected to the attached garage, said McClun. The garage caught on fire first and then spread.
